Zachary Sussman is a Brooklyn-based wine writer, educator, and consultant whose work has appeared in Saveur, Food & Wine, Wine & Spirits, The World of Fine Wine, and The Wall Street Journal Magazine, among many others. A regular contributor to Punch, he was named Champagne Louis Roederer Emerging Wine Writer of the Year and was a finalist for the 2022 IACP Food Writing Awards from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. A passionate advocate for Swiss wine, he also writes a regular column for Weinseller Journal, a German-language quarterly based in Zürich.

He is the author of The Essential Wine Book: A Modern Guide to the Changing World of Wine and Sparkling Wine for Modern Times: A Drinker’s Guide to the Freewheeling World of Bubbles (both from Ten Speed Press). His writing often explores the intersections of taste, place, identity, and cultural politics, with a focus on how food and wine can serve as lenses for broader social inquiry.

Zachary teaches in the Creative Writing Program at New York University and is currently a visiting lecturer in the Master’s program in Food and Wine Communications at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy.
